WELCOME TO THE 200 CLUB!
Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is a dedicated team of around 50 volunteers from all walks of life, who come together to help those in distress in wild or mountainous terrain, covering an area from the Brecon Beacons north to Newtown, west to Aberystwyth and east to Offa’s Dyke. As well as mountain incidents, the team responds to many police calls for help to search for people missing from home or hospital, or, increasingly, in swift water or floods. Calls rise year on year, now averaging more than 80 calls per year.
The team receives no public funding, and the same members who go out on call-outs work hard to raise the necessary funds to run our Mobile Control Vehicle and First Response Vehicle, maintain our headquarters, keep all our equipment up to date and in good repair, and pay for any training such as specialist First Aid. At the moment this costs £25,000 a year, and does not take into account the replacement of vehicles and equipment etc, as this becomes necessary. Members are all volunteers, and receive no expenses whatsoever.
The 200 club is one way of raising funds. Membership of £12 annually entitles you to one number in the draw – there is no limit to the amount of numbers each member can hold. Draws are made quarterly in arrears, in March, June, September and December.
If you would like to join in the 200 club, please email 200club@breconmrt.co.uk with your postal address, and an application form will be sent to you.
